The surgery is performed under anesthesia, and postoperative pain is usually manageable with prescribed medication. Discomfort is mainly felt as tension and limited arm movement initially, but it becomes more tolerable as recovery progresses and you follow the team’s recommendations.

Yes, as with any surgery that removes skin, brachioplasty leaves a scar. The scar is usually located on the inner or slightly posterior side of the arm, and its length depends on the degree of sagging. It is planned to be as discreet as possible when the arm is at rest, and over time, it tends to become less noticeable. Proper scar care is essential.

Yes. The goal is to achieve firmer, well-proportioned arms while avoiding overcorrections or unnatural shapes. Attention is given to the arm’s thickness, the transition to the armpit and shoulder, and its harmony with the rest of the body contour.

In some cases, it can be combined with liposuction of the back, lateral chest, or other body contouring procedures, provided your health, weight, and surgical time allow. Dr. Aroca evaluates each case to determine which combinations are safe and appropriate.

Recovery varies for each patient, but generally, light daily activities can be resumed within 2 to 3 weeks, with initial restrictions on lifting and wide arm movements. The final result is usually consolidated between 3 and 6 months, as swelling subsides and the scar matures.

The results are long-lasting as long as you maintain a stable weight and healthy habits. Natural aging may affect skin quality over time, but the severe sagging addressed during surgery generally does not return if weight and lifestyle factors are managed.

It is recommended when there is moderate to severe sagging on the inner part of the arms, excess skin after weight loss or age-related changes, and when the patient is at a relatively stable weight but the arms do not improve with exercise or diet.
