Weight and general health requirements
Ideally, the patient should be at a stable weight, or close to her target weight, before surgery. Why? Because if significant weight is lost after the procedure, the results can be altered. Additionally, I evaluate:
- Nutritional status and eating habits.
- Smoking: I cannot operate on you if you smoke. Nicotine compromises healing and increases the risk of complications. There are no exceptions.
- Pre-existing medical conditions (diabetes, hypertension, coagulation problems).
